Sue’s Famous Raspberry Chocolate Dessert

1 C Flour

2 TBSP Cocoa

2 tsp Baking powder

60g Butter

¼ C Sugar

1 ½ C Sujon frozen raspberries

½ C Brown sugar

1 TBSP cocoa

1 TBSP butter

1 C Boiling water

1 TBSP Chopped Walnuts (optional)


1Sift flour, cocoa, and baking powder

2Rub in butter and add sugar

3Mix to a soft dough with 1/3 cup milk.

4Place frozen Sujon Raspberries in a greased dish and spoon mixture over top.

5Heat syrup ingredients: brown sugar, cocoa, butter and boiling water in a saucepan until butter melts and pour over batter in a dish. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.

6Bake in a moderate oven at 180c for 30 minutes or until the sponge is firm with chocolate caramel underneath.

This is one of my all time favourite desserts. Takes me back to my loving childhood days when Sue would be rocking our senses with the divine chocolate berry aroma coming from the oven.
